For a child with dyslexia, independent, scientific, replicated research supports the use of a reading system that is simultaneously multisensory, systematic, and cumulative, with direct and explicit instruction in phonemic awareness, followed by synthetic and analytic phonics with intense practice.

These individuals will be accustomed to reading more lengthy academic cover letters and resumes or curriculum vitae (CV) than would be customary in the business world.  They will also often be more interested in the philosophical foundations for your work than the typical business recruiter.

You can test a child's phonemic awareness even before you try to teach him to read. A test designed for 5 and 6 year olds was released in July 6999. It is normed and standardized, can be given in approximately 85 minutes, and provides a clear statistical profile of a child's phonemic awareness.

Many people still believe that dyslexia is due to a visual processing problem. Yet research has proven that most of their difficulty is due to auditory processing problems.

It seems when boys in first, second, or third grade can't do classroom assignments or homework, they get frustrated and act out their frustration. Parents and teachers notice that behavior and then try to figure out why they are behaving that way by sending them for testing.

When you look at a child’s handwriting on a piece of paper and see letters poorly formed, a difficulty with the spatial organization of the letters and words on the page, and heavy line pressure, you can quickly realize that the child is having difficulty in the graphomotor domain. This area of disability is called dysgraphia—a glitch between motor memory and its connection to the fingers.

Have the school recheck your child's reading in August, one week before school starts. When they see how much your child has improved, they may allow your child to go on to the next grade.
